Endodontists are dentists with special training in endodontic procedures. They do only endodontics in their practices because they are specialists.

What is the main difference between an endodontist and a general dentist?

Endodontists specialize in treating the dental pulp and nerves of the teeth. After they acquire a dental degree that general dentists also possess. What is the difference between an endodontist and an oral surgeon?

On the other hand, an Oral surgeon mainly involved in a number of surgical procedures. They perform tooth extraction, transalveolar extraction (impacted wisdom tooth), fix jaw and midface fractures, TMJ ankylosis is also one of the areas where an oral surgeon can help. Other procedures may include dislocation, for example, Temporomandibular joint, removing jaw cysts and tumours. Oral surgeons are also trained in successfully carrying out dental implant procedures.

How long does the endodontic surgery take in Dubai?

The procedure usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Although, 15 to 30 minutes are spent in making sure the affected area is completely numb prior to starting the procedure. Do endodontists do dental fillings?

Endodontists perform pulp treatments such as root canals, as this is their area of specialization. However, it does not stop them from performing other minor procedures, for example, dental fillings in Dubai.

What Are the Signs That A Root Canal Therapy Is Needed?

There are signs and symptoms which indicate the need for a root canal procedure.  For instance:

  1. A severe toothache caused by chewing or application of pressure.
  2. Prolonged sensitivity and toothache caused by hot or cold foods.
  3. Discolouration of teeth
  4. Swelling in the gums close to the infected tooth.
  5. The appearance of a pimple on the gums which is not going away.
